Hi everyone!
Christmas time is fast approaching (only four weeks left!!!) and that means not just lots of parties and loads of food and -OH but also that LifeStyle Centre (gym) will be closed for the season holidays.
Gym is closing on Friday 22nd of December, 6pm.
Gym will reopen on Tuesday 2nd of January, normal time.
This means UNSW Kendo Club will have LAST training for year 2006 on Thursday 21st of December.
We will come back for the FIRST training in 2007 on Wednesday 3rd of January.
I will remind you all about these dates once more, closer to said time.
Also, I would like to remind everyone how wonderful and eventful year 2006 has been:
February:
Picton seminar and grading, where 15 UNSW members got their new grades including 2 Dan grades (1st Dan for Yoshiki and 2nd Dan for Aaron)
April:
31st Australian Kendo Championship, in Perth, where NSW Dan team (including Sano Sensei and Kirby) won 1st place; Kirby kept, for 4th consecutive year, his 1st place in Open Dan Individuals and Elaine got Fighting Spirit Award. And excellent seminars during this period!
May:
Korean Kumdo Championship hosted by Han Rim Won Kumdo club of Macquarie University, where Ken Chen won 2nd place in Dan’s; Nurlin came 2nd and Anna Cho 3rd in Women’s; Kyu team came 2nd and Elaine got an Encouragement Award.
June:
Open Invitation Tournament hosted by Dae Han Moodo Kwan club of Burwood, where Yoshiki won 2nd place in Dan’s; Women’s team came 2nd and in Women’s division Nurlin and Elaine shared 3rd place.
August:
Founders Cup with seminar,grading and competition, hosted by UNSW (us) of UNSW, where for the grading part, out of UNSWKC 25 successful kendokas three got their Dan grades (2nd Dan for Jackson, 1st Dan for Owen and for Dino). Dan team came 2nd; Kyu Kata team came 1st; Ken Chen got Geurillot Sensei Spirit of Kendo Award and Kirby got Jong Rim Rhee (Korea Kumdo Association) Fighting Spirit Award.
September:
Farewell to president Dino in his job in Spain.
Australian University Games in Adelaide, where Duy and Ephragm successfully graded.
Welcomed three Russians for training, who just send us an email of their success in their National Competition.
Welcomed Fukuda Sensei back to Sydney and his valuable teaching. He will be back in December.
November:
SKC hosted a visit from Sumi Sensei, a man with truly powerful presence about him, and Terry Holt Sensei from UK, during their visit to Mumeishi Three’s Kendo clubs Championship in Victoria.
2006 NSW Kendo Open Championship, where Nurlin came 3rd in Women’s division and Sussan got Fighting Spirit Award.

13th World Kendo Championship and grading, in Taiwan, where Sano Sensei and Kirby will be a part of Australian representation.
